Now That We’ve Seen

Now That We’ve Seen

Now that we’ve seen what dominion has done
Let us pray to be members instead.
Belief we were placed at the top
And could run the whole planet
Has poisoned our head.
On supersized engines of progress we slash
Through gardens we don’t understand.
And now that we’ve noticed the gardens’ demise
May we humble our ways to the land.
May we simply return to the land.

This song connects the healing the planet with harmful issues like dominion, human supremacy, unchecked economic growth. It’s part of a 2017 collection addressing ecology and climate justice, Singing Prayers for the Earth, by composers Bret Hesla and Richard Bruxvoort Colligan.

I like to sing it together several times,  interspersed the readings.
